On 18 May 2018, WILPF addressed the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) 28th Special session on the ongoing crisis situation in Palestine. WILPF’s joint statement with the Women’s Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling rebuked the lack of response to address the ongoing impunity of Israel and demanded that Israel respect the human rights of people in the Gaza Strip and Palestine. The statement condemned the senseless violence towards demonstrators in Gaza on 14 May and in the previous weeks and urged the Council to dispatch an independent international investigation into all violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law linked to the violence.
