WILPF submitted the following written statement to the 39th session of the UN Human Rights Council, at which there will be an Interactive Dialogue on the situation in Libya. The statement was supported by Together We Build It, a non-profit organisation founded in 2011 to support a peaceful democratic transition in Libya, through empowering women and youth to participate in the political and public sphere, and emphasising the relevant role of women and youth in the peace-building process.

The statement draws attention to the United Nations and States’ disappointing efforts to meaningfully include women in the consultative process relating to the UN Action Plan for Libya and makes recommendations about how to ensure women’s meaningful inclusion in political and peace-building efforts.
