The 24th Triennial Congress of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, 14-25 July 1989 in Sydney, Australia:
WILPF sections are asked to write to their governments requesting that action be taken within the appropriate United Nations Committee to:
- require the implementation of monitoring systems of the United Nations activities for their impact on women. This audit should include not only the programs specifically directed to and for women but also the impact on women but also the effect on women of all ongoing activities of the United Nations and its agencies;
- to develop appropriate performance indicators so that public reporting of the United Nations and its agencies shall be mandatory annually.
We further urge WILPF sections to initiate cooperation with other women’s groups within their own countries to increase the awareness of their governments of the need to support and act on this issue.
