The 26th International WILPF Congress urges the Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge to stay the execution of Mumia Abu‐Jamal scheduled for 17 August 1995, and to permit Mr. Jamal his inalienable right to a fair trial according to the constitution of the US and under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Background: On 2 June Governor Ridge signed a death warrant for Mumia Abu‐ Jamal. Mumia Abu‐Jamal is an African American accused of killing a Philadelphia police officer, Daniel Faulkner, on 3 December 1981.
