This report by WILPF Cameroon was submitted to the 4th cycle of the Universal Periodic Review of Cameroon, and it highlights concerns based on the findings of the July 2022 report: “From Local to Global Accountability, Cameroon: Analysis of the Implementation of Recommendations from International Human Rights Mechanisms.”
The UPR report illustrates different human rights violations against women in Cameroon, including sexual and gender-based violence. It also highlights the many challenges women face in political participation, such as lack of financial resources, violence and harassment. It recalls the impacts on women and girls of the conflicts in the Far North, North-West and South-West regions of the country, and the vulnerable situations of internally displaced women and girls. Finally, the report highlights concerns regarding access to education and birth and civil status registration.
