In January 2022, Zimbabwe will be reviewed by the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR Working Group) as part of the third UPR cycle. This submission by WILPF Zimbabwe for the UPR Working Group provides analysis and recommendations relating to the compounded impacts of the economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic on women and girls’ rights. It highlights concerns relating to sexual and reproductive health and rights, the right to education; women’s rights to work; domestic violence; child marriage; right to housing. It also presents concerns relating to the marriage regime. With regard to women’s participation in political and public life, the submission focuses specifically on challenges facing rural women. This submission was developed in close collaboration with WILPF International Secretariat.
