The Permanent Missions of Canada, the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and MenEngage Global Secretariat cordially invite you to the screening of the WILPF documentary Power on Patrol: the Making and Unmaking of Militarised Masculinities in Afghanistan produced by the Mobilising men for feminist peace WILPF Programme, followed by a panel discussion.
The event will discuss the root causes of violence and armed conflict; how the ‘war system’ is enmeshed with practices and representations of masculinity associated with power, violence and control; and how Afghani men, in particular male ulemas, are working in solidarity with WILPF women activists to find the rights path to sustainable peace for Afghanistan where men should promote and protect women´s rights, and women and girls can access and exercise their basic human rights.
