From 14–23 July, governments are meeting in New York for the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) to review progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes the three-day ministerial segment of the forum from 21 July – 23 July 2025, as part of the High-level Segment of ECOSOC. This year’s focus includes: Health (SDG 3), Gender Equality (SDG 5) and Global Partnership (SDG 17)
As part of the Women’s Major Group coalition, WILPF is once again contributing feminist advocacy for Development Justice. We co-authored the 2025 position paper, offering critical analysis and recommendations across all 17 SDGs.
Our message is clear: There can be no sustainable development in a world of war, genocide, and militarism. Militarism fuels destruction, displacement, environmental collapse, and gender-based violence. We refuse the narrative that “there is no alternative.”
WILPF members who are interested in obtaining a UN pass to attend, and who are from a country that is presenting a Voluntary National Review (VNR), can reach out to Genevieve Riccoboni: genevieve.riccoboni@wilpf.org.
