About the event: This side event will discuss and present recommendations to the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council on how it should respond to calls for additional measures to advance accountability, including criminal accountability, in Afghanistan.
In light of the report of the High Commissioner taking stock of accountability options and processes (A/HRC/57/22), this event also aims to explore how an independent investigative and accountability mechanism for Afghanistan could complement the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Afghanistan and other processes.
