About the movie
Imagine Peace (2026), directed by Fabian Chiquet, is a documentary portrait of Edith Ballantyne, a centenarian peace activist and former president of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
Having fled Nazi persecution in 1938, Ballantyne went on to dedicate her life to the international peace movement, playing a key role in mobilising global advocacy for disarmament and supporting feminist organising within the United Nations system and beyond.
The film traces her lifelong commitment to peace while bringing it into dialogue with today’s world, marked by renewed wars, rising militarisation, and urgent calls for justice. Through reflections and encounters with contemporary activists, Imagine Peace explores what it means to continue building peace across generations and movements.
