Peace and Freedom from War Profit Funding

14 July 4:30 pm 5:30 pm

Host: Peggy Dobbins, member of WILPF US

Open to: WILPF members

Theme: Resource mobilisation

About: Purpose is to present a concept of one way for WILPF to fund members’ working for peace and freedom without relying indirectly on interests that prevent them.
An on-line Peace and Freedom Consignment Shop donating a set portion of each sale to WILPF.
An example requiring no outside funding begins with the fact that a comprable market value of anything one is willing to sell is now readily accesible online. A desirable provenance increases the value immeasurably. A two minute video of an 87 year old WILPF member selling her Texas grandmother’s china may add value. Much more value is added by her sharing having learned the women who painted it launched the labor protest that spread aross France and won major reforms when they walked out to force Theo Haviland to fire Penaud, only the most flagrant exploiter of the feudal droit de cuissage.

Peggy wants to find 6 other women, genuinely committed to WILPF’s founding principles
purpose willing to be sellers and/or work on the website design and/or the financial and/or legal nuts and/or relations between Sections, International Board and International Secretariat to test this experiment applying today’s technology to fund raising and membership recruitment to update one of the only ways women in 1915 could reliably raise support and money to advance causes and interests they shared as they thought best, independently from men who did often countervene them by patronizing them, diverting, marginalizing, sometimes coopting their successes to serve ends that undid them.

Language: English; interpreted into Spanish
