About: Amid increasing geopolitical tensions, we are witnessing a significant shift in military and security policies in Europe and beyond. More and more countries are allocating higher percentages of public funds to support rearmament initiatives. The increasing prioritisation of military expenditure comes with complex trade-offs, particularly regarding commitments to human rights, sustainable development, the climate crisis and humanitarian assistance. This shift also invites reflection on the responsibilities of states and private actors in the oversight and regulation of weapons manufacture and trade. Please join us as we explore the multifaceted implications of the current push to rearm at the intersection of arms control, business and human rights (BHR), and international law.
