“Security” for Whom? Reflecting on Security and Defence Spending in the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework from a Gender Equality and Gender Budgeting Perspective

29 October , 2025 10:00 am 11:00 am

Host / Event Owner / Convener: Gender Budget Watchdog Network, European Gender Budget Network, and European Women’s Lobby (with support from Austrian Development Cooperation and Sweden)

When: 29 October 2025 | 10:00 – 11:00 (CET)

Event Type: Webinar / Advocacy Dialogue

About: As the EU debates its new Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), questions arise about what the growing focus on security and defence spending means for gender equality and women’s security.

This webinar will bring together gender equality advocates, academics, and gender-responsive budgeting (GRB) experts to discuss how feminist perspectives can influence EU priorities on security, militarisation, and equality.

WILPF’s Nela Porobić Isaković, Feminist Political Economy Focal Point will join the discussion, speaking from WILPF’s antimilitarist and anticapitalist perspective.

The conversation takes place ahead of the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, offering a timely space for collective reflection and strategy-building.
