About the event: At its 56th regular session, the United Nations Human Rights Council will consider, among other things, country-specific reports and updates, including on Afghanistan; Belarus; Burundi; Central African Republic; Colombia; Eritrea; Iran; Libya; the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel; Myanmar; Nicaragua; Sudan; Syria; Ukraine; and Venezuela.
It will also consider thematic issues, including racism; the rights to health, education, freedom of association, freedom of expression; climate change; extreme poverty; impact of arms on human rights; business and human rights; conscientious objection to military service; new and emerging technologies. And the human rights of specific groups and individuals,including women and girls; Indigenous Peoples; Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs); migrants; LGBTQI+ people.
