We are pleased to invite you to a briefing and virtual get together focused on feminist perspectives on disarmament, with a particular emphasis on autonomous weapon systems and WILPF’s newly founded Disarmament Working Group.
In March 2025, the Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) on Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems convened in Geneva for its latest meeting. The discussions emphasised the urgent need for a legally binding treaty to prohibit and regulate autonomous weapon systems. In the meantime, we are seeing increased use of artificial intelligence by militaries, resulting in grave harm and human rights violations. A report back on the recent GGE meeting, WILPF’s work against automated violence, and next steps will be presented at the event, providing an opportunity for members to share their thoughts and to discuss WILPF’s advocacy angles.
In addition, representatives from Young WILPF will introduce their newly established working group on disarmament. This working group advocates for the abolition of war and weapons and promotes structures that offer true peace and security. This is an intergenerational working group, led by Young WILPF members, but open to everyone, no matter their age!
This virtual call is open to all WILPF members.

This meeting is hosting by WILPF Germany member, Jennifer Menninger, in collaboration with WILPF’s Disarmament Programme, Reaching Critical Will, and the YWILPF Network.
