One of WILPF’s greatest strengths is our ability to connect local, national and international efforts. We link grassroots activism to global advocacy.
We support women affected by conflict, ensuring their concerns are heard by decision-makers across the globe. From local governments to the UN Security Council, we facilitate space for local activists to access international fora, creating spaces for them to participate in debates and help shape responses that affect their lives and communities.
We work closely with our national Sections and Groups and local partner organisations around the world. Together, we strategise, build capacity and exchange insights and expertise.
This working method forms a cycle of unified action. WILPF members and local partners bring their experiences and recommendations to the International Secretariat, which international programmes either facilitate a direct access to relevant international actors on behalf of the local partners and/or include their call for action in WILPF’s advocacy at the global level. In turn, the International Secretariat provides local activists with information about the latest developments on the international arena, which they can use to make a change on the ground.
