Amplify Local Concerns in Multilateral Fora
Grassroots activists around the world have important insights to share on peacebuilding and gender equality. They are the experts on their local contexts, and their experiences, concerns and recommendations must be heard in the multilateral fora where their futures are shaped. WILPF provides grassroots activists with a megaphone.
Through our global network, we give local human rights defenders and peace activists a chance to share their knowledge and experience with decision-makers at the highest level. We use our consultative status with the UN to bring grassroots perspectives into UN conference rooms in Geneva and New York.
To make informed decisions, those in power must be aware of the realities on the ground. And we believe that the people on the ground – the activists, the farmers, the lawyers, the teachers, the mothers – are the ones whose input is vital. They bring their analysis of the root causes of conflict to the table. They hold the key to sustainable solutions.
