Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom‘s has been, and still, extensively advocating for including Syrian women at Geneva II Peace Talks. As a first step, WILPF’s advocacy work succeeded in committing The UK Foreign Secretary his country to securing a place for Syrian women at the negations table.
Now as the peace talks have been pushed again until January 22nd, women are still kept out of the talks. More governments and international key actors need to join the UK and meet their legal obligations to ensure women participation in the peace talks and throughout all the peace-building process.
