Hosted by WILPF Australia, this year’s event is making history as our first-ever fully virtual Congress. It will run from today until 24 July.
There’s still time to join us! WILPF members can register to attend on Canapii, the online platform hosting all Congress-related information and events.
What is Congress?
Meeting every three years, International Congress is the highest decision-making body of WILPF. It is composed of all members of the International Board and delegates and alternates elected by National Sections.
Congress is open to all WILPF members, but formal decision making (voting) is limited to Section delegates and the members of the International Board.
International Congress elects new Board members, approves and adopts WILPF’s new International Programme, and adopts other recommended changes to WILPF’s structures, systems, policies, and by-laws.
The event is also an important opportunity for members from all over the world to connect, discuss the issues of the day and the direction of WILPF, and share knowledge or best practices through workshops, networking events, and discussion spaces.
Theme and Agenda
The theme of the 33rd International Congress is Making Connections: Environment, Social Justice, and Demilitarisation for Feminist Peace.
The agenda includes formal decision-making meetings on the weekends (16-17 July and 23-24 July), and workshops, networking, and debate sessions during weekdays (18-22 July).
