WILPF’s Women’s Power to Stop War Conference is now over. This is not the end, but rather the beginning of a reflecting and engaging process uniting women and men in a global movement.
In the last three days, we heard powerful speeches by prominent activists from all over the world, including Nobel Peace Prize laureates. We discussed gender equality, mass media and conflicts, human rights and sustainable development goals, social justice, militarism and the environment, among other topics.
We also danced together during the festival and sang John Lennon’s anthem Give Peace a Chance. We held a public manifestation on military spending vs. social spending. We connected with amazing peacemakers from all continents. We shared our stories and our experiences. We identified strategies to change the system of conflict and bring about sustainable peace.
Thanks to all of you who made this possible – here are some highlights from the WILPF Centennial Congress and Conference. Ready to join the movement?
