WILPF is a truly global grassroots organisation with national Sections and Groups in more than 40 countries. What started out as a group of women who gathered in The Hague in 1915 to protest World War I has now grown into a worldwide network of women peace activists from all walks of life.
Our local activists carry out the work that forms the backbone of our organisation. They hold meetings and conferences, put pressure on those in power and develop initiatives to address local concerns. By sharing their experiences and inspiring others, they also help found new WILPF groups in countries where there were previously none.
When we grow as an organisation, we get even better at learning from each other; we learn from our differences and from our similarities. We strengthen solidarity across borders. WILPF members come from different backgrounds and lead different lives, but they all share the same vision of a peaceful future. And only by working together can we make it happen.
