Release Me, Dawlaty and WILPF made this statement to the UN Human Rights Council’s 58th session (24 February – 5 April 2025), during the Interactive Dialogue with the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) on Syria.
The joint statement reiterates some of the alarming findings of the CoI’s reports A/HRC/58/CRP.2 and A/HRC/37/CRP.3, and calls for a comprehensive, inclusive transitional justice process with a gender-responsive and survivor-centred approach focused on accountability for all past and ongoing war crimes, while addressing pre-existing inequalities.
